unknown speaker model

hello,i have a speaker here that looks like 418-8h seies II but no magnet cap but numbers on the back of the magnet are
50-03-030840 i'm hoping it's a 418-16H LF
anybody know,thanks

Hi!

It wouldn't be a Series II, they had the wider, stepped magnet, but it should look just like a 418B, or 8H, and sound like one too. 30840 was the OEM # for the 422-8Zs they installed in 1202Bs, 1218As, and 1219As. They started as 15" frames, and went to 16" too, when that happened. I think they stayed with the lighter, more vulnurable VC, and never used the newer kapston formers. One old ad for the 422 said it was "part of the 418 family", and though they used differently-numbered cones than 418s, they sure make a fine 418 'version'. IMO they're as good for vocal main or floor monitors as any stage speaker I've used. You gotta baby them a little, but at anywhere near the rated 75W limit, they're way louder than you could stand close up anyway. Great speaker.

Hey thanks alot.i was hoping it was maybe a 16 0hm.It's the one on ebay right know 16 inch frame.I just wanted to make sure cause the 418-16LF series II is rare.

I have thumped the heck out of a pair of 422's for almost 30 years with no problems. Pretty tough old speaker.

They look like a 421 but with the small, wax-can magnet and no cap.
